When Vanilla is at home, climbing up the forest canopy, there is nothing anonymous or simple about its scent.

There’s a gentle steaminess that feels lightly green, softly humid, suggesting the Yucatán jungle where it grows. Split a pod open, and the whole world comes crashing down: green, creamy, with a hint of wood and smoked Saffron. Then, the orchid itself, blooming just once a day per year, resembling the waxy ghost of a flower, pale and translucent, its scent carrying hints of Almond milk and green Banana peel.

Inspired by a wild new varietal of Vanilla found at Mestiza de Indias, our friend Gonzalo's jungle sanctuary for rare and endangered species, this Candle is Vanilla stripped of its costume. No sugar, no cream, just a vegetal whisper of an entire ecosystem, expressed through a scent that refuses to be reduced to “sweet.” Anchored by Green Vanilla, fresh Cypress, sacred Guaiac, smoked Saffron, and a touch of Vetiver.

Fragrance story: Fresh Cypress and sacred Guaiac recall the green hum of the forest, while Green Vanilla conjures the cool, milky sweetness of the orchid itself. Smoked Saffron carries the warmth and depth of the flowering pod, while Veitver grounds it all in the damp, mineral soil of the lush Yucatán jungle. Green, creamy, untamed.

Candle Care

When burning your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2 to 3 hours, until the top layer of the wax has completely melted. This will prevent the wax from tunneling around the wick. When burning the candle after the first burn, do not let it burn for over 3 hours at a time.

Ideally, we recommend keeping the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to prevent the candle from emitting smoke or the wick falling into the wax.

After each burn, see that the wick is centered in the wax. This will also ensure that the glass does not overheat. The wick and flame should never be touching the glass. When approaching the end of the candle, leave ¼ inch of wax unburned and ensure you are not burning the candle for more than 3 hours. The glass can get overheated without the presence of wax and break.
